Allie Moss has been writing songs, touring and performing, both as a solo-artist and as a side man to Ingrid Michaelson, and teaching voice for over 20 years. Getting to know her has been pivotal in my music journey. Because of Allie, I’ve been able to move through my self-doubt and develop the courage to sing in front of people and put myself out there. Despite being an absolute badass at all the things she does, she’s always made me feel like she’s the friend who always has my back. And this has been life-changing for me in so many ways.
In this interview she tells us about her music journey so far:
- How she decided to commit to music and the aha-moments she’s had along the way
- How she met Ingrid Michaelson and became her friend and band member (before she became big)
- How she keeps her voice in shape, and loads of gems about how to implement a healthy and sustainable vocal practice
One of the things I’ve always admired about Allie is her way of calmly sticking to the things that are important to her in her life. A little bit of action goes a long way if it’s implemented regularly over time. She’s a master at showing up and doing what’s possible on the day. In recent years, one of her focal points has been music production and she’s worked herself to the point where she’s now producing other artists, as well as herself.
